HSLC EXAM 2025

A Brief Overview of Our HSLC Results Since 2019 By our Headmaster

1. Consistent Participation with High Attendance
  • The number of candidates appearing for the HSLC exams has remained stable, ranging from 282 (2019) to 400 (2023), with a peak in 2023.
  • Absenteeism has been minimal, with 2025 recording zero absences—a testament to our students’ dedication and the school’s supportive environment. The highest absenteeism was in 2019 (9 students), but this has significantly improved over the years.
2. Strong Pass Percentage with Room for Growth
  • The pass percentage has fluctuated between 80.75% (2023) and 95.74% (2019), with 2025 recording a solid 95.26%—one of the highest in the period.
  • While 2023 saw a dip to 80.75% due to a higher failure rate (75 students), the school has shown resilience, with the failure rate dropping to 16 in 2025, the lowest since 2021 (8 students).
  • This upward trend in pass percentage reflects our focus on improving teaching methodologies and student support systems.
3. Notable Achievements in Higher Grades
  • The number of students achieving Distinction has varied, with a peak in 2021 (106 students) and a steady 42 in both 2024 and 2025.
  • First Division results have remained strong, with 2021 leading at 126 students, followed by 111 in 2022. In 2025, 99 students secured First Division, showing consistent high performance.
  • The number of students in Second and Third Divisions has fluctuated, with 2025 seeing a balanced distribution (140 in Second Division, 61 in Third Division), indicating a broad range of academic outcomes.
4. Subject-Wise Excellence (Letters Achieved)
  • Social Science has been a consistent strength, with 166 letters in 2021 and 38 in 2025, showing sustained student interest and teacher effectiveness in this subject.
  • English and Mizo have also seen strong performances, with 2021 recording 130 letters in English and 2024 leading in Mizo with 91 letters.
  • Mathematics and Science have shown moderate performance, with 2021 being the best year (50 letters in Mathematics, 36 in Science). However, 2025 saw 25 letters in Mathematics and 40 in Science, indicating potential for further improvement in these critical subjects.
  • In 2025, 13 students achieved letters in all subjects, matching the achievement of 2022 and highlighting well-rounded academic excellence.
5. Top 10 State Ranks
  • We are proud of our students who secured Top 10 ranks in the state, with 1 student achieving 2nd rank in 2025 and another securing 10th rank in 2022. These accomplishments reflect the high academic standards at Govt Mizo High School.
6. Areas for Improvement
  • The failure rate, while significantly reduced in 2025 (16 students), peaked in 2023 (75 students). Targeted interventions, such as remedial classes and mentoring, have helped, but we aim to further reduce this number.
  • The number of students achieving Distinction has not surpassed the 2021 peak (106). We are working on advanced learning programs to help more students reach this level.
  • Subjects like Mathematics and Science need additional focus to boost the number of letters, ensuring our students are well-prepared for higher education and competitive exams.
7. Looking Ahead
The 2025 results show a strong recovery and consistent performance, with a 95.26% pass percentage and minimal failures. Our focus for the coming years will be on:
  • Enhancing performance in Mathematics and Science through workshops and practical learning.
  • Increasing the number of Distinctions and First Divisions through personalized academic support.
  • Maintaining our high pass percentage and ensuring every student achieves their full potential.
We thank our students, parents, and teachers for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Together, we will continue to make Govt Mizo High School a beacon of learning and growth in Mizoram.
