Origin of the Alumni
The Government Mizo High School Alumni Association was officially founded on May 19, 2017, marking a significant milestone in the school’s history. It all began when the class of 2014, filled with nostalgia and a desire to reconnect, embarked on a mission to organize a grand reunion encompassing all former students and staff members of Government Mizo High School. This initiative was met with overwhelming support from the dedicated teachers, who shared the students’ enthusiasm for fostering enduring connections.
Eager to learn from the experiences of other schools that boasted thriving alumni communities, the class of 2014 eagerly approached the esteemed headmaster of the school, Mr. Lalrammawia. During a productive meeting, they expressed their admiration for these established alumni associations and their aspirations to create a similar network for Government Mizo High School. They highlighted the school’s unique distinction of being the first and oldest high school in Mizoram, making it all the more important to forge lasting bonds among its graduates. Encouragement and support emanated from Mr. Lalrammawia, who recognized the potential of the class of 2014 to lead the way in establishing an alumni community for Government Mizo High School. He lauded their determination and emphasized the significance of their batch in taking the first steps towards this endeavor. With a shared vision and purpose, the alumni have set forth specific objectives aimed at the development and enhancement of Government Mizo High School, aspiring to elevate its standing as a respected and reputable institution. On the momentous day of May 19th 2017, when the Alumni was first established, a unanimous decision was reached to honor and commemorate this significant occasion by designating it as the “Day of GOVEMIKNIGHTS.” Since then, it has been observed annually to the best of our ability.
On July 2, 2017, the visionary founders of the Alumni diligently crafted the Alumni Constitution, a pivotal document that serves as a cornerstone for the organization. Comprising 17 carefully articulated articles, this constitution provides invaluable guidance and direction for the Alumni’s activities and operations.
A concerted effort is underway to establish a streamlined registration process for the alumni community. The objective is to facilitate the seamless integration of new members into the vibrant network of alumni, fostering connections, collaboration, and opportunities for mutual growth.
